Objective:  Generate an urge within people for them to tell others about God.

The divinely inspired author, Paul, recognizes that OT King David was so moved by his trust in God that He simply had to speak up and call upon the Lord.  When in trouble, that becomes a natural response.  Speak to the One who helps.  Call on Him as long as you live!  And give such praise to Him in the presence of others!  There is a principle here that ought to move each of us to proclaim the honor and glory of the Lord too!

Objective:  Help Christians comprehend the value of their weaknesses.

The Apostle shares a spiritual outlook on such “weaknesses” from his own practical, real life experience, and his divinely inspired communication from God on the matter.  Let’s learn some things about why an all powerful, caring, knowing God allows us to continue to experience and struggle with so many weaknesses.

Objective:  Help people to focus on right priorities by “seeing” what is really important.

Do you ever wonder what you might be overlooking or not “seeing”?  I wish we could see things as God sees them!  This passage infers that we can, if we are willing to take a “look”.  Let’s consider what life might be like if we saw spiritual realities as God sees them.

Objective:  Encourage each to persevere in serving the Lord.

The Apostle Paul probably faced more discouragements than anybody we will ever meet, yet he just kept on preaching and teaching and demonstrating Christ with his life until the Lord took him home.  In 2 Corinthians 4, he relates to his readers why he does not ”loose heart”.  Let’s look at this chapter and see what the Apostle thought about and how he looked at things, and learn to do the same so that we, too can keep on going in the face of our discouragements.

Objective:  Each to realize foundation of genuine repentance is sorrow over offending God.

Just feeling bad about a behavior is not the same as repentance, even if you stop the behavior, and it may not lead to salvation.  In this passage, the Apostle describes genuine repentance. He relates that there are differing kinds of sorrow over the things we have done. Some sorrow (regret) is appropriate and beneficial, some is without any spiritual benefit. Let’s examine the scripture together and see what is involved in genuine repentance that leads to salvation.

Objective:  Motivate each to actually realize their capacity as new creations.

Folks are not really “Christian” from birth – they are supposed to go through a new birth.  They are supposed to be “born again” which involves a dying to self and a living for God in Christ.  Christians are supposed to be new creatures or new creations!  It is not enough to “say” we are “Christian”.  If we really are Christians, we need to live the reality of being a new creation.

Objective:  Encourage Christians to look to spirit of people for manifestations of Truth.

People can be read like a book (like a letter) to verify the truth of their relationship to God.  When anyone looks at them, if they are really committed to Christ and living “in Christ”, genuine Christ-likeness ought to be visible in them.  Genuine Christians genuinely reflect the Lord’s glory.

Listen to audio;  2 Corinthians 05;16-21 – We Are Ambassadors

Objective:  Help each realize and fulfill their Christian role as ambassador of Christ.

As Christ’s ambassadors, we need to be very serious and very honest about representing God and His appeal, through Christ.

Objective:  Inspire and encourage each to boldly glorify God with their lives.

God has a very particular plan to bring honor to Himself through our humble running of the race, even when it looks like we may be floundering and failing.  To not loose heart in our ministry of the Gospel, we should understand some things about HOW God works through us for His glory.

We don’t know when our time to stand in judgment before God will be.  What would it be like if God determined to render judgment on you right now?  Here are some things we ought to consider to test whether we are in the faith.
