Objective:  Inspire hope, boldness and confidence amongst Christians.

Buildings don’t generally shake when we have a prayer, people are not struck blind for a season when they oppose us, jailhouse doors don’t just flop open.   These are things that just don’t happen to the average Christian every day, so what are we to learn from the Book of Acts?  The same God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is still in control of His church, guiding and directing with the same purpose and power even during our troubled times.

Objective:  To help each understand the nature of the True God.

Our ideas about God often determine HOW we respond and relate to Him.  Here the inspired Apostle speaks to folks who have wrong concepts of God.  These are devote and religious folks, but they are misled.  Paul explains some things to them (and to us) about their “unknown God”.  These are things that are important for everyone to know about God.

Objective:  Teach the plan of Salvation as experienced by Paul.

The Divinely inspired Apostle Paul is designated here as,  “proclaiming to you the way of salvation”.  He is one who knows.  Here we look at Paul’s conversion experience and see what the steps of his salvation were.  Our path to salvation needs to include the same essential elements as Paul’s.  Let’s look at some key elements of “the way of salvation”.

Objective:  Teach how to maintain spiritual strength and steadfastness.

How is it possible to maintain an enthusiasm that is appropriate to the gift we have received – to remain constantly zealous for the Cause; to always be faithful and true?    Acts 2:42 gives us the key.  The secret lies in what they devoted themselves to.  Here are four directives for keeping us on course in spirit and in truth.

Objective:  Teach the basic elements to becoming a Christian.

In Acts 2, we have a record of the inauguration of the New Covenant;  a spiritual and a universal covenant from God; and we have the record of the first souls to enter into that covenant.  This record demonstrates for us how God intends for people to enter His covenant.

Objective:  Help people understand what is expected of them from Gospel preaching.

When you hear the Gospel proclaimed, does it affect you?  How should it affect you? God has a clear intention for what His Word is to accomplish in our lives.  The Apostle anticipated a clear and definite response wherever he proclaimed the Word of God.  Here is the appropriate response to hearing of the Word of God.

Folks today are looking for soul salvation in a variety of venues. The devout, religious leaders in Acts 4 thought they we were safe in their stubbornness. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit told them they had to get right with Christ and follow Him. Here’s why.

Because we want to appreciate the love others have for God, because we want to endorse and encourage their faith and commitment to god, we are often in danger of becoming acceptant of things that are not really true, and of failing to hold on to some things that are true.

In this regard, it is important that we occasionally review what the Scriptures teach as fundamental elements of salvation; even for “believers”!

Sometimes we have a tendency to “fudge” or cover up things, or maybe to express what we wish was true rather than what actually is true.  This is in reality, a deception and a spiritual problem.  Acts 5 highlights several reasons why it is so very vital for Christians to be spiritually honest with ourselves and with God.

With all the danger and hardships, wouldn’t you still like to have been a apart of the church in those early days with all the excitement, enthusiasm, and genuine commitment?  Can’t you sometimes feel the spirit of it changing lives and transforming them?  Peter, from a fisherman to an Apostle?  Zacchaeus from an obnoxious tax-collector to a Gospel writer?  Paul from breathing threats of murder and imprisonment against Christians to being willing to suffer and die for the faith?  Here are 4 key elements that can help us to restore that same vitality to the church.
