Objective:             For each to realize that faithfulness to Jesus is the ultimate in religious security.

Temptations are strong to drift astray, to yield to the pressures of friends, family, peers, to follow something else,  to allow allegiance to Jesus to grow lax.  Following Jesus is worth whatever the cost may be.  The question to ask is not which denominational doctrine to follow or which religious leader to follow.  The question is what does Jesus want and teach.  Our being right with JESUS is what is important.

The Hebrew Christians are drifting.  They have become disheartened, disenchanted with Christianity.  Other ways of living seem to be easier; there is not so much to think about.  Not so much opposition from the world and peers.  It’s easier to go with the flow and fit in with people around us.  Don’t do it.  The letter to the Hebrews is telling Christians to persevere in their efforts.  The main themes in the book of Hebrew tell us why it is so essential to not lighten up in our Christian effort.
